The problem with these new toilets is that there's no information online on how to fix them. These anti-siphon valves use float cups and prevent dirty water from backflowing into clean water. Of coure, the problem repeats if I flush again. The Fluidmaster 400 model anti-siphon valve works with toilets that are 3.5 gallons per flush and greater and high-efficiency models that are 1.28 gallons per flush or less. Now, if I turn off the main valve and turn it back on again, the tank fills normally through the bottom. For whatever reason the tank never fills and the water keeps leaking forever. This can happen any time the water is on and may happen after a new installation, a few days later or even months and years after installation. If I pull the lever up, the leak stops, but once I release the water starts leaking again. How to Fix Toilet Running Continuously or Making Hissing Sound: Flushing Debris from 400A Fill Valve It is possible for dirt and debris to lodge itself inside the valve. (Picture below)Īs you can see, water is coming out from the top of the valve and leaking out into the toilet. While water is supposed to refill the tank from the bottom, it instead leaks out through the gaps in the fill valve. However, there is a problem with the fill valve. A picture of the toilet is below:īasically, the toilet flushes normally once the button is pressed. I don't know if this is a good long-term solution, and I suppose silicone lubricant from the hardware store would be a better idea.I have a pretty new dual-flush toilet whose fill valve suddenly started leaking for no reason. I decided to use some medical lubricant (generic version of KY jelly) I had on hand. I didn't try searching very hard, but this quickly found link suggests it would be a bad idea to use a petroleum-based lubricant. I tried cleaning the pin and seal, but I still found resistance when moving the arm. In this article we will show you how to install a fill valve. If your fill valve is no longer working or if you just want to update the components in your toilet, then you've come to the right place. The black rubber seal was easy to remove, and I found that the arm moved without resistance once this seal was off. It can also increase your water bill if your toilet is running endlessly due to a bad fill valve. On the underside of the cap, I saw the black rubber seal with a pin that slides through it as the arm goes up and down. ![]() Here is what the cap and arm look like when removed. It was easy to pull off this seal and confirm that the arm went up and down without resistance when the seal wasn't there. It's coming from the bottom of the fluidmaster where there are 4 holes and I can't make it stop. It is not filling from the small tube on top of the fluidmaster. However, on the underside of the cap was a rubber seal that was causing lots of resistance. Hi Everyone, I can't figure out why my water jn the autofill will not stop. I found that in my case, after removing the cap off of the valve, the float was sliding up and down on the shaft very easily, so that didn't seem to be the problem. I did what BMitch described in his answer, and found the video linked by Lawrence Kesteloot to be very helpful just to understand what we're talking about.
